LOST: A Journey of Self-Identity

The journey of a teen to find himself and his way amidst the isolation of hearing loss and Covid. From bilingual schools to mainstream, online to state school for the deaf, the path has not always been easy to see or navigate. Mom and the teacher of the deaf come together to share emotional anecdotes, insights, and powerful tips and strategies for supporting self-awareness and self-advocacy in deaf and hard of hearing children and young adult. 

 

 Learner Outcomes: 

The participant will be able to:

1) identify educational placement options for deaf/hard of hearing students

2) engage in facilitated discussion related to factors of isolation due to factors of hearing loss, social dynamic, educational placement, Covid

3) apply strategies shared during the workshop to the various educational environments
