Assistive Technology for DHH Students

Telecoils, bluetooth connectivity and streaming devices - oh my!  You may already know about classroom FM systems, but what else is out there to support your deaf and hard of hearing students in the classroom and beyond?  Gain knowledge about the impact that mobile devices and other current technology are having on communication for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.

10 modules; approximately 30 minutes

Target audience:  Professionals and Parents

Learner outcomes:

  1. Learners will know how to identify if a student’s hearing aid or cochlear implant has an activated t-coil
  2. Learners will be able to identify 2 ways that a student can connect their phone/tablet/laptop to their hearing aids
  3. Learners will be able to identify 4 ways a person who is deaf or hard of hearing can communicate over the telephone
  4. Learners will be able to identify what kinds of alerting systems are available for people with hearing loss.
  5. Learners will learn about the TEPP program in Wisconsin and will be able to identify if their state has a similar program.

MCDHH is an Approved RID CMP Sponsor for Continuing Education Activities. This Education K12 program is offered for .05 PS RID CEUs at the Little/None Content Knowledge Level.
