CONSIDERATIONS IN WORKING WITH DEAF PLUS STUDENTS

 

Working with students who are deaf plus have additional disabilities can be a unique challenge!  This training focuses on considerations for determining services and goals and how to establish community with other specialists when working with your student.

(Approximately 60 Minutes)

Target audience:  Administrators, professionals and parents of a children with hearing loss.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will learn about the statistics of the incidence of hearing loss in individuals identified as Deaf Plus.
  2. Participants will learn about considerations to make in determining services for those students identified as Deaf Plus. 
  3. Participants will learn strategies for working with students identified as Deaf Plus.

Developmental Therapist and Teacher of the Deaf

Becky has been a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing for 20 years and specializes in working with "deaf-plus" children. Becky has credentials in early intervention services for families with children who are deaf or hard of hearing. She currently sits on the Board for the Wisconsin Chapter of Hands & Voices. During this Meet Up, participants will receive special techniques, tips, tools, and lesson planning ideas on how to service this special population of students.
